A fine parallel intergrown pair of translucent, light candy pink Calcite crystals from Dal'negorsk in far eastern Russia. The crystals are probably manganese-enriched to give this colour and measure to over 5 cm tall with three-faced trigonal nail-head terminations and a great glassy to slightly-waxy lustre. Both prisms are hexagonal in section, each being highly asymmetric in very different habits. These pink crystals has formed on an earlier generation of Calcite crystals with a white platy habit. The accompanying video shows this specimen in white LED light and ultraviolet light. Under UV the Calcite fluoresces a very bright, fiery peach orange even tending to pumpkin orange, a very ripe pumpkin that is!
