This classic North Pennines form of stocky prismatic Calcite crystals comes from Roger Harker's collection and therefore dates to pre-1980. It is from the famous Blackdene mine in Weardale and noted on Roger Harker's handwritten label affixed to it, that it is "Susan's specimen". Who Susan is, I am not sure, but it is a nicely balanced small cabinet piece which sits well for display. The Calcite crystals present classically three-sided sloping terminations and reach 3.2 cm across. Although very well-formed, the Calcite crystals are lightly abraded around all sides, but still look very good. A small piece of Galena is attached to the back of the specimen at one end.
