A classic triangular group of milky-white translucent Calcite crystals from the historic St. Andreasberg mining district in Lower Saxony, Germany. Covering a thin matrix of platy Calcite, the Calcite crystals cover the top surface, having hexagonal prisms with flat pinacoidal terminations. Although hexagonal, alternate faces are broad and narrow, so changing the aspect ratio to a more triangular habit. Under LWUV the crystal fluoresces a milky white, remarkably similar to its daylight colour, while in SWUV the fluorescence is a feint, ethereal pinkish-white. A classic, probably old-time Calcite from the St. Andreasberg mines and ex. the Josef Clemente (1899-1987) Collection of southern Germany.
