A splendid specimen of curved platy, petal-like Calcite crystals cover a matrix of opaque, creamy Quartz crystals on massive milky Quartz. This fine small cabinet specimen is from Levant mine at Pendeen in south west Cornwall. Levant operated intermittently between 1793 and 1930 and whose workings famously extended out beneath the Atlantic. Individual Calcite crystals measure to 2 cm and are of a translucent creamy white, with a bright pearly to silky lustre. A fine and most attractive Calcite from Levant mine.
