Tsumeb mine has produced many weird and wonderful crystallized forms of Calcite and in many colours too. This cabinet-sized creamy-orange Calcite is certainly one of the more unusual forms, or habits of crystal. They are aggregated together, but their termations are like 'fins' or wedges. How these relate to rhombs is difficult to reconcile, but perhaps twinning is involved. What is particuarly nice, is their contrasting lustre across individual faces: glossy thin edges, and matt wider side faces. There is minor scuffing to the edges of crystals near to the periphery, but those in the centre are in extremely fine condition. A fine honey coloured Calcite from Tsumeb. Ex Kessler Collection.
