This magnificent Calcite specimen is from the Rabenstein marble quarrying area just west of Chemnitz in Saxony, Germany and is a whopping large cabinet or even museum sized piece. The colourless, milky white and pink tinged Calcite crystals cover a completely hidden matrix of micro-botryoidal Hematite and rusty Limonite. The Calcite forms superb complex crystals typically between 2.5 to 3.5 cm diameter piled on top of one another and all with a brilliant glassy lustre. Many crystals, particularly those around the perimeter, are tinged a delicate blush pink, coloured by finely disseminated Hematite inclusions. A magnificent display specimen from Rabenstein, Germany.
