A parallel pair of double terminated scalenohedral Calcite crystals, each pierced and held together by a horizontal plate of likely Calcite, forms a quite unique specimen from the Dal'negorsk mining district in the Far-Eastern Region of Russia. The two scalenohedral crystals measure 4.1 and 5.4 cm respectively and are translucent, light smoky grey. Some faces are coated thinly, yet opaquely, with a mid to dark grey crust of Calcite, clay-like in appearance. The semi-transparent plate joining the two crystal is probably Calcite, but could be Cerussite or Baryte; this requires confirmation. An interesting and unusual Calcite from Dal'negorsk.
