A tremendous cabinet specimen of Cadmium Smithsonite forming curved butterscotch-tan rhombohedral crystals to 1.5 cm across, so typical of Tsumeb. The underlying, mainly hidden matrix is a mixture of blackish sulphides with a slight iridescence pervading clear, cleaved blocks of Smithsonite. The Cadmium Smithsonite crystals have a greasy lustre and display complex growth patterns over their surfaces, some of which appear as flattened bubbles. A splendid example of this cadmium-rich variety of Smithsonite.
