Morphologically quite different to most other world Brookite occurrences, the sharp, bladed, rectangular-shaped crystals also reach a size barely imaginable at the old-world classic European sites. Discovered in the early 2000s the Brookite crystals in the Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan are truly exceptional, but very few survive extraction and transport and the supply has disappeared in recent years. At 3.8 cm tall, this dramatic stepped orange-brown crystal rises spectacularly from a miniature-sized piece of crystallized Quartz var. Rock Crystal matrix from Zard Mountain in the Ras Koh Mountains, Kharan District. Bigger Brookite crystals have been found, but virtually all are damaged, or lack an aesthetic appeal. The dramatics of this specimen should not be underestimated.
