Fine Alpine Brookite crystals are rare and often very delicate. The village of Elm in Glarus Süd is one of the few Swiss localities known to have produced display-worthy Brookite crystals but they are usually very thin blades in their form. This miniature specimen shows this very well, with a cream-coloured rock matrix richly invested with and covered by wafer-thin orange-brown transparent bladed crystals of Brookite, many showing classic parallel linear growth lines and unusual central lines of black. The largest freestanding crystal reaches 8 mm crystal in length. Some crystals are missing, presumably lost to their fragility during collecting, leaving behind just their thin base, but there are several undamaged, perfect well-formed freestanding bladed Brookite on display. Quite a rarity. Mounted on an acryllic block for handling and display.
