Delightful, intermeshed cogwheels of bright metallic silver-grey Bournonite overgrown with granular gunmetal crystal aggregates of the silver-copper-iron-antimony-arsenic sulphosalt Freibergite sit next to 2 cm tall colourless semi-transparent Quartz crystals. From the Viboras mine at Machacamarca, Cornelio Saavedra Province, Bolivia, the Bournonite forms characteristic cogwheel crystals to 1.4 cm across by 0.5 cm wide and is a terrific example of this much loved and sought-after habit. There is a good coverage of both Bournonite and Freibergite on this very showy Bolivian specimen.
