Beudantite was rarely found at Tsumeb mine and although it occurred in both the first and second oxidation zones, is more likely to be from the latter. This is an extremely choice example from Tsumeb mine, with excellent, well developed trigonal crystals, typically to 2 mm, which is quite a decent size for this locality - and indeed anywhere in the world. The Beudantite crystals, which almost completely envelope the specimen, are a greenish golden-yellow, but appear more chocolate-brown when viewed normally. When backlit and seen at low magnification , say x10, the crystal edges are a bright and attractive speckled golden yellow. The specimen is mounted on a small colourless acrylic base and is from John Schneider's famous thumbnail/miniature collection (no. 936).
