Good Beryllonite crystals seldom appear in the collections we acquire, so it is nice to have this excellent miniature from Paprok in the Kamdesh District of Afghanistan. Beryllonite is a beryllium phosphate. This is a really compact specimen, the light fawn Beryllonite crystal measuring 2.6 cm long by 2.5 x 2.5 cm, perched on a 1 cm thick bed of milky Quartz, forming a perfect base. It has been glued to an equally sized colourless, square acrylic base. As far as I can distinguish, both opposite faces are intact terminations and the crystal is translucent. Under LWUV it fluoresces a weak, dark fawn with a slight orange tint.
