The Golconda mining district in Minas Gerais, Brazil is renowned for having produced some of the world's finest Bertrandite crystals, but in small numbers, and generally in smaller specimens. This small cabinet-sized display specimen is an absolute stunner with not just large bladed Bertrandite crystals to 2 cm in length, but with many large clusters of perfectly formed crystals growing upright from matrix for excellent aesthetics. There is no damage too, just sheer perfection in form. The crystals are snow-white and have a lovely pearly lustre, forming fan-like sprays/clusters. This really is a remarkable specimen of a pegmatite mineral which is generally considered a rarity. The geological conditions at Golconda must have been just perfect for crystals like these to have formed to such immense dimensions compared to elsewhere. World class.
