Big and bold are two words to describe this super West Cumbrian Baryte. Reaching up to 6.5 cm in length and with many over 6 cm this is a very significant Baryte from this most famous former iron mining district. Featuring the renowned blue-grey colour, these Baryte crystals are not quite the gemmiest, glassy type that would command five figures, but they are in incredibly good condition, with just a couple of tips missing in discrete areas. Otherwise, these large bladed crystals, rising up sculpturally from a pink Dolomite matrix are superb. They are quite resinous and more etched and darker due to hematite inclusions of the reverse side, but brighter front on. A really fine, larger British Baryte from this most famous of areas where most specimens came out in the late 19th to early 20th century.
