An excellent small cabinet specimen of Baryte from an unknown mine in the iron mining district around Frizington in west Cumbria, England. The Baryte forms an open, intergrown group of classic, broad, chisel terminated tabular crystals measuring to 3.7 cm , tinted pale greenish-blue and grading from translucent to gemmy at the terminations. All crystals have a glassy to waxy lustre. The Baryte has formed on creamy plates of Dolomite with minor reddish pink Hematite. A great specimen of Baryte from the Frizington area.
