This cabinet sized Baryte specimen from Clara mine in the Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany is a cracker. It not only has well-formed thick tabular pointed Baryte crystals, but they are colour-zoned too - from colourless/white near their base to brown and orange towards their tip/termination. The main crystals are undamaged and have very sharp crystal edges. The largest reaches over 6 cm in length with many others over 4 cm. The larger crystals show a slightly unusual growth form - atypical of what one would normally expect for Baryte, but really sharp and nice. Some of the larger crystals have small Baryte crystals clustered on the back face. This is quite an imposing Baryte, heavy and showy and Clara mine is such an important and famous mine.
