Apart from its yellow Fluorite, Hilton mine in Scordale, northwest of the town of Appleby in Cumbria, is famous for its magnificent crystallised Baryte. This splendid specimen is composed of individual large rectangular blades of up to 3.5 cm across and around 4 to 4.5 cm high, of translucent to semi-transparent cloudy cream Baryte, tinged very pale yellow. The specimen naturally stands with all the crystals sloping at 45 degrees, roughly in parallel alignment. A great and showy Hilton Baryte with the previous collector's card label.
