If the thought of the most remote and difficult to get to locality appeals to you, then Rocky Pass must be right up there in the top ten! To give it its full locality name we are talking here of Rocky Pass islet in Petersburg Borough in Alaska, USA; a tiny island within the western Alaskan archipelago and I would imagine an extremely cold place to hunt of minerals! If it's a fine crystallised miniature of the rare tectosilicate Barrerite you are after, I would recommend you purchase this example rather than go and collect one yourself! Barrerite is a rare zeolite which was first described in 1974 and named for Richard Maling Barrer (1910-1996) who had a particular interest in the chemistry of zeolites. This specimen comprises of several sub-parallel, thick bladed crystals of an almost pure milky white.
