Tynagh mine at Killimor in Country Galway, Ireland, produced a magnificent suite of almost 100 mineral species before closing in 1982. Sadly, most of the large quantity of specimen grade material passed though the crushers, with only a very limited amount of specimens surviving. This is a fine example of Azurite richly pervading a limonitic gossan matrix. It contains numerous vugs lined with lustrous micro-crystals of azure blue Azurite; occasional emerald green Malachite and light, lime green Pyromorphite forming micro-clusters of acicular crystals. A lovely Azurite specimen from this wonderful mine, enhanced further by its Malachite and Pyromorphite.
