This lovely large plate of Malachite and Azurite encrusted with small rounded aggregates of Azurite crystals is from the famous Bou Beker deposit, Touissit-Bou Beker mining district, Jerada Province, Oriental Region, Morocco. At 12 cm in length this is a really spectacular specimen, much larger than what you normally see from this locality. It is also quite distinctive in form compared with the more usual individual sprays of bladed crystals. Colourwise, the Azurite is a really fine deep blue, glossy, but not highly reflective owing to the complex blocky crystal form of the individual aggregates. The Azurite crystals cover a very large area, 10 x 8 cm in extent, creating a very impressive display.
