Tsumeb mine has without doubt produced some of the world's best Azurite crystals from its amazing oxidation zones. This pretty, large thumbnail to small miniature specimen, is fine example of crystal form. It consists of an attractive fan-like spray of prismatic Azurite crystals to 2.9 cm in length with a couple of smaller bladed crystals to 1 cm in length protruding from the base. The Azurite crystals are quite dark coloured, almost black, but when intensely backlit the edges of the main aggregate reveal an intense blue colour as do the whole of the smaller crystals at the base. The crystals look in great shape, although under high magnification a few chips can be seen around the edges.
