This is what I would term a proper Azurite specimen! Formed of a pure aggregate of very large (to 2.7 cm across), deep blue, glistening, resinous, stepped, chunky, pseudorhombohedral, monoclinic crystals upon a base of finely crystallized Azurite. Cabinet-sized and free from any noticeable damage on its display side, this is an absolutely world-class display specimen and it may surprise you that it is from Touissit in L'oriental Region, Morocco, rather than Chessy, or Tsumeb. Starting in 1979, and continuing through the 1980s, Touissit was one of the premier sources of stunning Azurite crystals but most were extremely dark blue, glossy, highly elongated bladed crystals, as individuals or small diverging sprays. Now though, great Touissit Azurites are rarely seen. This piece is quite different in its form, and much more richly crystallized, as striking blocky crystals of the old-school 'Chessy' type. Although this is undoubtedly a pricey piece for many collectors, if it was from either of those other two localities it would be priced an order of magnitude higher. It comes with a custom-made Sunnywood acryllic display stand.
