The polymetallic ore deposit at Puiva Mount in Western-Siberia, Russia, is host to over 50 mineral species and is known to produce many good specimens including Axinite-(Fe). This is a splendid small miniature of transparent to translucent, clove-brown Axinite-(Fe) crystals to 3 cm long, attached to a sharp sliver of light-grey matrix part-covered with acicular hairs of white Byssolite, the fibrous variety of amphibole. The Axinite-(Fe) crystals form an intergrown cluster with razor-sharp edges and glassy faces with a brilliant lustre.
