A superb cabinet specimen of lustrous, well-formed wedge-like crystals of lime green Augelite measuring to over 1 cm, intergrown with abundant colourless prismatic Quartz crystals. It's from the Tamboras mine, 500 m north of Mundo Nuevo in Sanchez Carrion Province, Peru. Augelite is an aluminium phosphate and is formed from metamorphosed phosphate-rich sediments. The Augelite crystals average between 0.5 and 1 cm but some do exceed 1.5 cm. They are translucent with slightly frosted faces and of a delicate minty lime green with each prism grading to green-tinged white. A fine cabinet specimen of well crystallised Augelite and Quartz from the Tamboras mine in north-western Peru.
