Greystone quarry, usually called Greystones quarry by collectors, is at Lezant in the Callington District of Cornwall, England and still operates producing building aggregate. The quarry sometimes intersects Greystone silver lead mine, Wheal Sophia and North Tamar, all small nineteenth century lead mines. This miniature has several fine Aragonite crystals set horizontally across a matrix of matt, buff-light grey Siderite (or possibly Dolomite) crystals. The latter form exaggerated curved saddle-shaped crystals which contrast beneath the semi-transparent, smoky grey Aragonite crystals of up to 3.2 cm long. This miniature is accompanied by the previous collector’s card label.
