Good Aragonites are famous from Austria, many of which form the coral-like fingers named Flos Ferri. This example, from Oberzeiring in the Pöls Valley in Styria, is remarkable for its fine architectural structure and amazing colour. A mottled tan and light grey matrix is hidden by an array of Medusa-like, snaking tentacles of rounded, smooth Aragonite with a totally uniform chalky-white, subtly tinted delicate pale lemon-yellow. Under LWUV the specimen fluoresces pale, somewhat ghoulish greenish-white. An excellent Flos Ferri variety of Aragonite from Austria. Ex Franz Lammer Collection.
