Pericline is a variety of Albite feldspar which occurs as elongated milky-white crystals, extended on their b-axis. This beautiful small cabinet specimen is from a typical Alpine-cleft deposit in the Pfitsch Pass at Zamser Grund in North Tyrol, Austria. The Pericline crystals attain 2 cm on the upper display surface, and on what would be considered the underside or base, one crystal measures 2.5 cm. This reverse side has been left essentially uncleaned, with a chocolate-buff mica and clay-rich infilling between the Pericline crystals. A beautiful example of this seldom-seen Albite variety and accompanied with a splendid old German label.
