Alamosite was the first lead silicate species to be recognized at Tsumeb mine and although it is not the Type Locality it is the only place on Earth where well-formed crystals of this extremely rare species are known. This excellent thumbnail specimen consists of a chip of bluish to purple-grey massive sulphides - probably Galena and Germanite - upon which one surface is a cavity lined with sprays (to 1 to 2 mm in diameter) of freestanding creamish, transparent, Alamosite crystals and a few blockier rhombic to orthorhombic colourless crystals of possible Anglesite. Despite their small size, any well-formed Alamosite crystals are rare, and these are all terminated. Ex Hettrich Collection.
