Albandite is an unusual manganese sulphide mineral which is rarely found well crystallized. In 2009/2010 a major discovery was made at Uchucchacua mine in Peru which really redefined what was expected of the quality of Albandite crystals. This matrixless single octahedral crystal might only measure 1.2 cm from point to point, but it is extremely shapely and in great condition, complete all round. A fine example of this rare manganese-bearing species.
