A very rich coverage of Alabandite over a light grey matrix containing disseminated sulphides. From the Zinc Corporation mine at Broken Hill, NSW, Australia, the Alabandite forms strongly foliated sooty-black coatings with some areas becoming grassy-emerald-green. The Alabandite also occurs with, more typical, glassy black crystalline faces and a bright lustre; with an appearance similar to biotite. The foliation takes the form of acicular-like, narrow, flat-lying columns in both linear and gently curving patterns. A very good and interesting specimen of the rare manganese sulphide, Alabandite, from Broken Hill, Australia.
