This is a quite large, but unfortunately incomplete crystal of Aeschynite-(Y) from Norway, detached from matrix. Ex David Hardman Collection, no. 1644, it is labelled as from Setesdal, Evje, Aust-Agder, Norway. This is an older locality and this is supported by the use of the term "Blomstrandine" in use until about the 1960s. Setesdal is the valley (which also includes Bykle, Valle, and Bygland) along the river Otra. The longest crystal edge reaches 2.8 cm across and internally it is deep reddish-brown in colour and with a strong resinous lustre on its conchoidal fracture surfaces.
