A spectacular group of intergrown, lustrous coal-black Aegirine crystals, richly coated in snow-white crystals of Orthoclase from the famous alkali pegmatite deposit at Mount Malosa in the Zomba District of Malawi. Most of the Aegirine crystals, one of which exceeds 10.5 cm, have mirror-like prism faces and all have a rich scattering of sharp, equant monoclinic Orthoclase Feldspar crystals. The deposit has become a modern classic and this specimen reflects exactly why.
