This might be a miniature specimen but it is very classy indeed. It comes from the famous historic silver mining town/city or Guanajuato where the Spanish settled centuries ago and opened extensive mines for the precious metal. Richly crystallized, it presents some rounded, almost molten crystals, as well as sharper forms, some with the hint of twinning. It is a rare preserved specimen of the rich silver ore, in this case dominated by crystallized dark grey Acanthite, or more correctly Acanthite pseudomorphs after Argentite, with flashes of red Pyrargyrite in association, with minor Pyrite and Calcite. The crystals of Acanthite reach up to 8 mm across and are nicely formed and free from damage. A fine very rich specimen from this famous historic silver mining area.
