Dick Morris Collection

Crystal Classics is proud to announce the acquisition of the mineral collection of renowned Arizona collector Dick Morris.
Dick Morris, pictured below, has been a passionate and dedicated mineral collector for more than four decades. His journey into the world of minerals began somewhat unexpectedly in his late 20s, when he first encountered a flat of specimens filled with brilliant red Vanadinites and yellow Wulfenites. That moment changed his life and sparked a fascination that grew into a lifelong pursuit.

Based in Arizona, Dick quickly immersed himself in the mineral community. Early on, he met collector Mark Hay, who became both a close friend and business partner. Together with another long-time collaborator, George Godas, the three embarked on countless collecting trips to Arizona's most famous mineral localities, including the Rowley, Red Cloud, 79, and Grand Reef mines. They even made their own discoveries, such as Fluorite at the Homestake mine, pictured below.

Dick and Mark's close partnership eventually led to the creation of 'Minerals of Arizona', a retail mineral business they successfully operated for more than 30 years. They became regular exhibitors at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, where their booth was a gathering place for fellow collectors and enthusiasts.
Over the years, Dick expanded his collection with a strong focus on Arizona minerals, particularly secondary lead species, but his cabinets also reflect a love of Cerussite, Quartz, and select worldwide specimens. His wife, Carole Lee, shares his passion, and together they built an exceptional collection of world-class specimens.
Dick has also made multiple contributions to the Mineralogical Record, with specimens from his collection featuring on the covers of the 'Mineral Collections in Arizona' supplement issues, pictured below.

Crystal Classics is honoured to bring Dick's stunning collection into our care. The collection will make its public debut at the Tucson Fine Mineral Gallery during the Thanksgiving Showcase, taking place Friday, November 14, through Sunday, November 16. During the Showcase weekend, Dick Morris will give a talk about his collection on Saturday at 2 pm. We also invite our customers to join us on Saturday evening for a complimentary Evening Gala, featuring a traditional Arizona dinner. The TFMG is located at 465 W St Mary's Road, Tucson, AZ 85701, and is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm during the show.
