Jim O'Leary, Design Director and global spokesperson, will celebrate his 50th Anniversary at Waterford Crystal on October 10, 2010. The enchanting and gentlemanly Jim O’Leary is the driving force behind the design vision of Waterford Crystal. For 50 years – his apprenticeship began when he was just a lad of 15 – O’Leary has made us smile and marvel at his considerable talents.
Jim
O'Leary began his stellar career at
Waterford Crystal in 1960, as an
apprentice cutter. Reaching the
pinnacle of his career in 1989, he
was named Design Director, following
just five years in the Design
Department. He stands among the most
renowned crystal designers in the
world today. Every piece designed
for Waterford is approved by Mr.
O'Leary.
Jim
has traveled extensively demonstrating
and explaining the design ethos of Waterford Crystal to the public. His
highly sought after repertoire of
limited and exclusive creations, have
delighted crystal collectors in the
United States as well as Europe and
Australia. Second only to Lismore,
Jim's Araglin collection continues to
be one of Waterford's most famous and
successful patterns. One of Jim's most
significant contributions remains the
Museum Collection. This series of
limited editions was designed in the
style of late 18th and 19th century
Waterford masterpieces, now housed in
the National Museum of
Ireland.
