{"product_id":"tourmaline-with-quartz-and-cleavelandite","title":"TOURMALINE with QUARTZ and CLEAVELANDITE","description":"This classic, earlier 2000s smaller cabinet display specimen of multicoloured Elbaite tourmaline is from the famous, and remote, pegmatites at Paprok in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan. A wide, stocky, 4 cm tall, colourful, prismatic Elbaite crystal with a flat pinacoid termination at it top, rises up through a wide coral-like domed cluster of creamy-white platy Cleavelandite (a variety of Albite). At the other end of the specimen a flat-lying pale smoky-brown, slightly frosted Quartz crystal sits across the Cleavelandite. The Elbaite crystal has a very dark coloured base, passing upwards through a dominantly strawberry-pink body and into a thin pale lime-green cap. A crack can be seen across the lower section of the tourmaline crystal but this does not appear to be a repair, but is a natural re-healed fracture held together by the Cleavelandite on either side. There is also a small chip on one edge of its termination but overall this is a significant gem tourmaline from Paprok. It comes with a custom-made Sunnywood acryllic display base.
