Renowned for wonderful, colorful, gem quality Elbaite tourmalines, this short but stocky, flat, pinacoid-terminated individual crystal on platy white Cleavelandite matrix takes the Paprok pegmatites to another level. Blue in colour, this Indicolite variety of Elbaite responds magnificently to backlighting, revealing an exceptional level of colour intensity. Extremely dark teal-blue in its lower half, it brightens upwards through an almost colourless, faintly violet-pink layer to an insanely vibrant electric-blue band immediately beneath its pinacoid termination. This top face is almost matt in appearance and is full of character with a hollow centre, but with an embayment on one side where the Cleavelandite grows up with the middle of the crystal. The top edges of the tourmaline are in superb condition with no chpping around the sides, but with a small corner missing where the crystal passes into its hollow core. The base of the Elbaite crystal is a fracture surface, but aligns with the rest of the specimen so not to detract from its quality. A world-class Indicolite tourmaline.
