The site has been known to produce Topaz for around 250 years and for much of this period was the main source for the gemstone throughout Europe.  Collecting in the area is now prohibited.  With maximum dimensions of 5.5 cm, this miniature displays several well developed delicate, wine yellow crystals on a characteristic greisen matrix.  Greisens form by the passage of hot gases or superheated vapour flowing within solidifying granite bodies.
