This ex-matrix, opaque metallic black crystal has well defined prism faces and good terminations. The surface is complexly patterned with growth structures, forming concentric stepped faces and micro-etching over the terminations. Tantalite-(Mn) forms a continuous series with Tantalite-(Fe) and was formerly named manganotantalite.
