The Stephanite forms an aggregate of intergrown classic pseudohexagonal crystals individually reaching 5 mm across. The specimen, which is well-crystallized throughout, has four excellent larger crystal extensions protruding from the main aggregate and is a typical deep metallic grey colour. Under magnification the crystals present an unusual skeletal, or slightly etched form to their pseudohexagonal prisms.
