From John Schneider's famous Tsumeb collection it has a remarkable 'wet' lustre. The Smithsonite forms a thick creamish coloured layer upon darker matrix with the upper surface coated in crystals. The crystals are thin and lenticular, with an almost bladed and curved shape, with prominent orange inclusions along the top 'ridge' of each. They exceptionally reach nearly 2 cm in length.
