{"product_id":"shergottite-ca-rich-achondrite-martian-meteorite-1","title":"Shergottite - Ca-rich Achondrite Martian Meteorite","description":"The Zagami Martian meteorite fell to Earth on October 3, 1962, landing close to the farmer who found it near Faskari in Nigeria. Compositionally it is a Ca-rich Achondrite, known as Shergottite, and because of its link to Mars these are one of the most sought after types of meteorite. Achondrites are type of stony meteorite, therefore are much less dense than iron meteorites. In all, 18.2 kg of this meteorite was found. This 0.76 g thumbnail-sized slice has two parallel cut surfaces. Martian meteorites represent less than 0.5 % of all known meteorite falls on Earth, making this an extremely rare type.
