This is in part because of its striking pink colour, but also its crystal size in relation to many of the other unusual species at Mont Saint-Hilaire, many of which are microscopic. At 10.9 cm in length, this is not only a large crystal spray of Serandite, but a world-class one too, with this elongated bladed habit being much rarer than the more blocky form. Salmon-pink and largely opaque, the crystals do not reach the dizzy heights of the very best deep flesh-pink translucent crystals, but are spectacular for their size and the addition of a white, 1.3 cm diameter 'ball' of Analcime near the tip of the spray adds significantly to its aesthetic appeal.
