Raspite, a lead tungstate, is named for Charles Rasp, the discoverer of the Broken Hill deposit and despite its simple chemistry, Pb(WO4), it is an extremely rare mineral worldwide, and at Broken Hill!  The Raspite crystals measure to an impressive 6 mm, display distinctive gemmy to translucent, reddish-brown, Roman sword-like bladed crystals.  In association are bright yellow platy crystals of Stolzite on a surface of colourless, micro-drusy Smithsonite, mostly covering a mixed botryoidal grey-brown matrix with Quartz.  Stolzite, also Pb(WO4), is the tetragonal dimorph of Raspite; Raspite being monoclinic.
