Instead, it is from a copper mine in Windhoek District known as Onganja mine. The crystal is a floater, with no obvious point of attachment. It is a scalenohedron, gemmy and glassy and containing inclusions of both bright metallic Native Copper and ruby red Cuprite. At 3 cm in length it is admittedly not huge, but it is so wonderfully detailed, with complex crystal surfaces, particularly on the trigonal faces at both terminations.
