{"product_id":"meteorite-chondrite-fell-12th-march-1899","title":"METEORITE (CHONDRITE) (Fell 12th March 1899)","description":"The Bjurböle Meteorite was observed to fall at 21:30 hours on 12th March 1899. Meteorites are named for the place where they land, in this case it was a coastal town named Bjurböle, because the meteorite broke through sea ice and had to be recovered from underwater. Having watched the fireball descend, locals constructed a large wooden case in the sea though which to work and recover the debris. This is a superb specimen clearly showing its granular composition and the inclusion of metals within the rock fabric. It is classified as a type L\/LL4 chondrite and is one of only 20 classified L\/LL4 meteorites. It is also made rare in that the fall was witnessed and hence dated. This is a great opportunity to acquire a good specimen of this rare meteorite.
