{"product_id":"malachite-75","title":"MALACHITE","description":"The Democratic Republic of Congo has long been associated with the world's finest Malachite stalactites and with copper (and cobalt) mining continuing apace, new finds are still being made. The most spectacular are from Mashamba West mine which has been operating for over a century but eventually these deposits will run out. This slightly flattened, narrow group of stalactites is dominated by one long (11 cm), finger-like stalactite alongside a couple of spherical short stalactites. At the end of this line, three or four broken stalactites reveal the concentric green internal banding. Externally, these stalactites exhibit a sparkling, glossy, glitter-like appearance and a quite dark green colour. Other than the broken tips, the front display side of this group is free from damage. On the back, there are quite large natural marks where the line of stalactites were wedged against another group within the cavity, but otherwise this is a very nice example of stalactitic Malachite.
