The overall 'rose' measures 4.7 x 3.5 cm and up to 1.6 cm thick.  It is built from metallic black hexagonal platy Hematite crystals in epitaxially-aligned stacks. Individual stacks are of Tower of Babel appearance (like Babel quartz). The back of the specimen exhibits natural etching which reveals complex growth patterns within the Hematite structure.
