{"product_id":"geocronite-with-fluorite-sphalerite-and-pyrite","title":"GEOCRONITE with FLUORITE, SPHALERITE and PYRITE","description":"Often overlooked in favour of the amazing green Fluorite crystals, the wonderful suite of sulphides and sulphosalts at Milpo mine include some world-class crystals. This excellent larger miniature specimen from the finds of 2024 shows an almost complete assemblage, including with Fluorite, but with some superb crystals too. Perhaps of most significance is Geocronite, or mid-series Geocronite-Jordanite, as some analyses indicate that this material contains both species. The majority of the sulphide\/sulphosalt matrix on this specimen is gun-metal grey Geocronite-Jordanite and although there are many fractured surfaces there are some superb crystals too, the largest of which reach almost 1 cm across and present classic excellent stepped pyramidal crystals. The two best crystals have tiny dark grey rectangular cuboid crystals liberally scattered on their surface which are similar in appearance to Enargite, but are perhaps (geochemically) more likely to be Bournonite. Small, golden crystals are probably Tetrahedrite coated with a thin film of Chalcopyrite and rounded dark brown Sphalerite crystals are evident too. Amongst the many sulphides are a group of quite large (2.5 cm on edge) cubo-octahedral Fluorite crystals but their colour - a deeper teal-blue\/green than the usual bright emerald-green - overshadows their quality as crystals. Furthermore, close inspection reveals that these Fluorite crystals are densely included with dark grey hair-like filaments of another sulphosalt, perhaps Boulangerite.
